Freemasonry philosophy

Enoggera Lodge members share a bond of friendship and brotherhood that spans generations and all walks of life. Our lodge is composed of members from many backgrounds and most have come to us from other lodges. Whether it be welcoming a new joining brother or hosting a lecture on the history and working of Freemasonry, Enoggera always provides a hearty welcome to all.

Character of our Lodge

Many members of Enoggera who joined in their early 20s have achieved over 40, 50 and even 60 year of membership. Recently a number of younger men have joined our lodge. We take pride in the development of our members.

In many organisations the same people often occupy the executive positions for many years. In our Lodge, new members can expect to progress through the various positions and to take the chair and run the lodge as part of the management team. Your leadership, organisational and public speaking skills will improve through this process with benefits flowing to your work and other activities.

Having a sound financial basis enables us to minimise fees, sponsor social events and generously support charities. Charity plays a large part in the activities of our Lodge.

If you would like to contribute to the future of Enoggera Lodge as a member, build your skills and expand your social contacts, please contact us.

Lodge events

Charity plays an important role in the activities of our Lodge. We make regular donations to a number of charitable organisations, including the Blind Institute, the Royal Children's Hospital Appeal, Fred Hollows Foundation and Cancer Council. In recent times we have also made significant one-off contributions to emergent causes such as the Grand Master's Flood appeal, the UGLQ Variety Club Bash entry and the Weekend to End Women's Cancers (benefiting QIMR Berghoffer and RBWH), on behalf one of our Past Masters who completed the walk in October 2013. We even contributed to a "buy a brick" project to build a memorial in France as part of the 100 year anniversary of World War One. If you know of an opportunity for us to support a worthy cause, please let us know through the contact page on our website.

Our meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month, except January and December. After each meeting a light meal and refreshments are provided. These festive boards are light-hearted and enjoyable affairs and we like nothing more than entertaining visiting Brethren.

Our annual formal Ladies Night dinner is a highlight for the year and always an enjoyable experience.

Our history

Enoggera Lodge has a rich history dating back to the early 1900s. The Lodge was formed in 1923 and has been meeting regularly since then. There was a tradition to name lodges after the local town or suburb but members came from all areas. Members raised funds and built the Enoggera meeting rooms on Pickering Street, Enoggera. This hall was sold and the members moved to The Kedron Center. Investment earnings from the funds raised from the sale provided a valuable supplement to the Lodge budget. We have seen multiple generations move through the ranks of the Lodge.

Lodge Meetings

Freemasons are a diverse group of men from all walks of life, from many religions and many backgrounds. Becoming a Freemason is a commitment to develop your own potential, to values that see all humankind as equal, and to helping others in our community.
